Moving Toward Action

The universe will reward you for taking risks on its behalf.
– Shakti Gawain

In their book, The Leadership Challenge, Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner summarize their interviews with hundreds of leaders about their best leadership experiences. From this research data, the authors drew themes, which they identify as “The Five Exemplary Leadership Practices.”These practices make for the best kind of leaders in any part of the world:

  • Model the Way
  • Inspire a Shared Vision
  • Challenge the Process
  • Empower Others To Act
  • Encourage the Heart

I hope that this site reveals these same practices. In fact, I offer it to you with them in mind.

I am inspired to construct this site because I hope in doing so to model the way for you and others. I also hope the vision the site offers resonates with and inspires you, as I received inspiration from the people and experiences I share within the reflections on the site.

I also hope that this site will inspire you to challenge yourself and others on the way we have been living, particularly in Western culture. I hope that reading my reflections and exploring the resources offered on the site empowers you to find your own voice of concern and to act in more life-promoting ways. See Finding Your Own Voice on the site for more on this.
